District Jail, Khammam

District Prison, Khammam was constructed in the year 2007 and inaugurated on 30-11-2007 by the then Hon’ble Home Minister Sri. K. Jana Reddy. The authorized accommodation of this prison is 340 prisoners (303 male prisoners and 37 female prisoners). This prison has four barracks and a separate annexure for females, guarded by the Armed Reserve Police at the main gate. District Prison, Khammam is headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Jails. Women prisoners of the district are confined in separate enclosures, guarded by female prison warders and female home guards. This prison is committed to providing correctional services to prisoners by utilizing the skills and abilities of the staff to the maximum extent. An Indian Oil petrol pump was established within the premises of District Prison, Khammam, in the year 2017. Two life-convict release prisoners have been given employment at this petrol pump, and four semi-open prisoners are working as pump boys.
