Legal aid and assistance is provided to all the prisoners in all jails/prisons through District Legal Services Authorities and State Legal Services Authority through the system of Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS) and legal aid panel advocates. All the remand/under trial prisoners are provided free legal aid services like bail application etc. from DLSA. All convict prisoners are provided free legal aid services like appeal of their conviction to higher courts through the respective district, state and national legal services authorities. All the prisons are equipped with legal aid clinics where the prisoners can avail free legal aid services.
